Problem Description:
A connectivity issue occurs in the Cartularius Document Management app when attempting to integrate AWS S3 buckets containing dots (”.”) in their names. Bucket names with dots prevent the app from establishing a secure connection to AWS S3, resulting in failed document synchronization within Salesforce.
Symptoms:
- The app fails to connect to AWS S3 buckets with dots in their names.
Temporary Solution:
To maintain functionality until a permanent resolution is available:
- Rename existing buckets to exclude dots (e.g., replace “bucket.name” with “bucket-name”).
- For new buckets, adhere to AWS naming conventions without using dots.
Impact:
This issue disrupts:
- Automated document synchronization between Salesforce and AWS S3.
- Real-time file management for buckets with non-compliant names.
Status:
The development team has identified the root cause (SSL certificate validation conflicts caused by dots in bucket names) and is implementing a fix to improve compatibility. The resolution is scheduled for inclusion in Cartularius Document Management v3.2, targeting release in Q2 2025.
Additional Information:
- This issue only affects buckets with dots in their names; buckets without dots function correctly.
- Administrators can validate bucket names using AWS naming rules: lowercase letters, numbers, hyphens.
We apologize for any disruption and appreciate users adhering to the temporary solutions while we resolve this compatibility issue.
Note: Always verify AWS S3 bucket naming conventions here before creating new buckets.
